Hello dolls! About three weeks I placed an very impromptu order to Glamour Doll Eyes. They released a very limited edition Valentines Day set and since I wanted to try out a couple of new shadows I decided to make my purchase a bit bigger. In total I purchased eleven shadows, seven of which I will be reviewing for you today. The four I will not be reviewing will be the shadows that where a part of the Valentines Day set, only twenty where made, so they where incredibly limited.
As you may be able to tell I am a very big fan of Glamour Doll Eyes already, but I wanted to try my luck at some new shadows.
I ordered seven full jar of pigment. Each pigment is available in three
forms. Sample Baggies ($1.25) Sample Jars ($2.50) and Full Size Jars
$6.00. Great prices for the amount of product you get!
Each full sized pigment comes in a small jar, with a sticker on the cover that contains the Glamour Doll Eyes Logo, and another sticker on the bottom that contains all the details on the shadow.
Shadows and Swatches:
(All pigments swatched wet using MAC Fix+)
Boyfriend Sweater, Unveil
Boyfriend Sweater: Brown with gray undertones, shines a bit on the metallic side
Unveil: Dark matte brow with purple undertones. When used completely wet this pigment completely changes colors!
Audacious, Chocoholic
Audacious: Gold with black undertones
Chocoholic: shimmery deep coppery brown
Stellar, Celestial Crow
Stellar: shimmery purple with a matte black undertone
Celestial Crow: blackened blue with green shimmer/glitter
Exposed
Exposed: Medium matte gray
(on the site it says it has slight shimmer but I didn't encounter any shimmer at all)
Overall
I have mixed emotions over these shadows. They are all exquisite shadows, but I was disappointed in some. Audacious and Celestial Crow aren't as pigmented as I had wanted but I feel like that is completely fixable. It would simply just have to be built up. But where there are faults there are some great gems! Unveil had me completely floored when I swatched it. When I looked at it in the jar it looked like a simple boring matte, but once swatched it completely changed colors into this awesome shimmery purple!!
I hadn't notice until I received them that I had ordered so many neutral shadows. Which is a good thing since I mostly buy bright colors from GDE. I wasn't let down completely by any shadows, but there was still a tad bit of disappointment.
Favorites from this purchase:
Unveil, and Exposed. (You have no idea how hard it is to find a great matte grey!!)
I would definitely suggest checking out the Glamour Doll Eyes website! Just click the link, or the banner on the right side of the page!
They're having great sales every week in March! If anything take a look at their samples, for $20 you can get at least 14 shadows!!!
