Hello Dolls! Today I have a short review for you highlighting one of the eyeshadows in MAC's new Art of the Eye collection. Where most of the collection is simple, bright colors Banafsaji was the most unique and special colors in the collection! So, it was the only one I purchased to review for you guys. Check out the MAC website to see the other shadows and the entire collection.
Packaging:
Banafsaji comes in the common MAC packaging. It is wrapped in a small "cardboard" box that have the details of the products. The box contains the ingredients, name of the shadows, and type of the shadow. This shadow comes in an actual pot. I usually end up depotting my MAC shadows since they end up being overly bulky after collection a good amount. And that can just go to the Back To MAC program.
Product:
Banafsaji is one of five new shadows from MAC for their new Art of the Eye collection. Banafsaji is a veluxe pearl shadow. It is a frosted, cool-turned purple with a blue overtone but with a violet base.
In the package it looks more of a light navy, but once on the eyes or swatched it comes out a dark navy violet. With only one swatch it was very well pigmented and non patchy. With only one layer it looked more matte than it did a Veluxe Pearl. The sheen didn't come to play until the second and third layer of color. You can get away with only one layer of this shade but if you want to get the full affect you can build it up. And, since there seems to be a slight duo chrome to this shade wearing it under a dark base will slightly change or enhance the color.
Swatches:
As you will see in the swatches the color is completely different once out of the pan. It also shines and changes colors slightly in different lighting.
Overall:
I tend to not be a fan of MAC eyeshadows, but their Veluxe Pearls always tend to be better than their other formulas. This shade proves that. It's easy to work with, it is not patchy and very pigmented as well as easily blendable. It is also very versatile since there is a slight duo chrome. I will most likely end up depotting this color since I don't like having my MAC shadows in pots. In the end for $15 this is the only shade in the new collection that seemed worth it, and it was.
